Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

12TMT preferred but not essential. See PL if you have any questions.

Students should also be taking Calculus/Statistics and Physics.


Mechatronics

The focus of the Level 3 mechatronics course is to prepare students for engineering at a tertiary level through project based, contextualised learning across the multiple areas of Technology. 

Students will have the choice of project focus. Previous students have competed in the Evolocity electric vehicle competition and made componenets for detecting native bats.

Selections will be reviewed by the Head of Faculty.

Please note that courses will go ahead only if student numbers, staffing, and timetabling allow it.  Where a subject is oversubscribed, and there are insufficient numbers or resources to create an extra class, a ballot system may be applied.

Rutherford College aims to deliver educational courses over and above that which is funded by the Ministry, however parental contribution for the costs of trips and activities where participation is optional, and/or components not covered by the Government grant may be requested, and we appreciate the financial support our families make to the School.
