Recommended Prior Learning

14 credits at 12OED including practical kayaking credits,OR14 credits at 12PED,ORHOFapproval based on attitude ,effort and attendance. Numbers are limited.


Outdoor Education

Level 3OutdoorEducation is designed as a progression from Level2 Outdoor Education. Students will build on their previous knowledge and experiences in the outdoors while gaining recognised outdoor skills. The course builds towards a multi-night experience in a remote, wilderness area snow camp journey. Suitable students for this course will be physically fit, motivated and willing to challenge themselves in a range of outdoor environments.

Trip costs are heavily subsidised. However, students can voluntarily contribute to the cost of one or both of the multi-night trips.
Snow Camp is approximately $250.00

Please note that courses will go ahead only if student numbers, staffing, and timetabling allow it.  Where a subject is oversubscribed, and there are insufficient numbers or resources to create an extra class, a ballot system may be applied.  

Costs

Rutherford College aims to deliver educational courses over and above that which is funded by the Ministry, however parental contribution for the costs of trips and activities where participation is optional, and/or components not covered by the Government grant may be requested, and we appreciate the financial support our families make to the School.
