Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

Year 10 Japanese or in consultation with TIC or HOF. 

Students need to have displayed an understanding and competency in the four language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening in Year 10 Japanese.


The course is at level 1 of the NZ National Curriculum for the Learning Languages Learning Area.

Assessment Information

The work done throughout the year will be assessed by Internal and External Assessment submissions.
Japanese at Y11 aims increase the four language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Students will learn to develop confidence in their written Japanese with specific reference to imparting information about themselves and their families.

This course is assessed against Achievement Standards.
Student work can gain:

Achieved with Excellence.

Judgment is determined by the quality of work supplied as evidence and is measured against an assessment schedule with information clearly stated about what evidence is required and how a judgment will be made about that evidence.

Submission dates for the assignments are also available on the student Assessment Noticeboard (by the tuck shop) and on each separate assignment as it is distributed.

Assessment dates will NOT be brought forward but you may get notice of class-wide extensions as unexpected commitments arise.
