Social Studies actively prepares all students for History.


History

The Year 11 History course has three major components. Term One deals with Black Civil Rights in the USA. Term Two covers the Causes and Effects of WWII. Term Three looks at New Zealand protest movements including  the 1975 Māori Land March, Bastion Point Occupation, the Springbok Tour Protests and the Rainbow Warrior bombing.

Rutherford College aims to deliver educational courses over and above that which is funded by the Ministry, however parental contribution for the costs of trips and activities where participation is optional, and/or components not covered by the Government grant may be requested, and we appreciate the financial support our families make to the School.
